About the show

Tyohaar -  Festivals of India is a presentation that traces the roots of major festivals (holidays) like Holi and Diwali, among others. Through music, dance, and theatre, the production expounds on how various festivals and traditions have evolved from ancient times with relevance to the seasons and astronomy (position of the moon) to their modern-day manifestations, and how people celebrate these diverse and unique festivals in various parts of India.
Contrary to common understanding that only Hindu holidays are celebrated in India, Tyohaar encapsulates India's vast diversity with holidays celebrated by Indians following Islam, Buddhism and Sikhism among others. Surati's message is to unite in brotherhood and celebrate all that is good and all that bring people together by admonishing any divide along the lines of religion or faith.
